In developing protocols for using hypnosis to recover from rheumatoid arthritis, I did a lot of research on the subject.
Here are some ideas to consider:
When you’ve been diagnosed with arthritis and whether you were expecting it or not, its devastating. Discovering you have a chronic illnessof any sort could send your emotions into a spiral of anger and depression.
A classic symptom that accompanies arthritis, according to many experts, is depression, which may manifest itself with feelings of helplessness and feeling alone, feelings of a lack of meaning in life, mood swings, problems sleeping and lack of appetite.
The depression that many of those newly diagnosed with arthritis feel may be associated with a loss of the future that they had been planning and the realization that long term life plans may have changed.
A common fear for those diagnosed with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis to fear the future, for example, having to face up to life in a wheelchair and imagining how that may impact upon family life or career
In some cases, people who have been recently diagnosed may have a fear of the medications they have to take and what impact they will have on their lives
Every chronic illness involves loss: in the case of arthritis, the loss of activities we once enjoyed, or our self-image. Our identity is often tied to the things we do and can do. This image of ourselves now has to change and, often, we don’t know to what, or how to go about it.
Talking to someone who has been through similar fears and has similar experience with arthritis can help. Local arthritis support groups may be able to help.
Dealing with my own rheumatoid arthritis, hypnosis and diet have proven to be effective. By avoiding dairy fat and protein and minimizing foods like corn, I have minimized arthritis inflammation and pain and I get to ride my bike!
Using self hypnosis I focus my thoughts on my body, healing and directing my immune system for wellness. Hypnotherapy allows me to reduce the stress that I experience and manage my emotions, both of which directly impact rheumatoid arthritis.

I find that exercising always changes my mood. If I am feeling anxious or down, I just get my body moving and work up a sweat. By the time I'm done, my problems seem much more manageable. I guess it is the endorphins.

I have a Scorpio moon in my astrological chart and I've spent years working on FORGIVENESS. After a meditation I got the message to focus on the ending of a conflict and the positive aspects that came out of getting to the other side rather than focusing on being hurt in the first place. When I used to focus on the hurt, things never got better, I continued to hold on to that hurt. Now I focus on connection and gratitude and things in my life have improved greatly! It came when I was in college, and made a real impression. (maybe I was just more impressionable then? :-) The advice was: any time you're worried or afraid or hurting or depressed, it means you're focusing on yourself. Immediately find a way to be of service and reach out to someone else, and you'll always rise above whatever was getting to you. And it is SO true.

I HAVE to meditate everyday and focus on opening my heart. When I do that then I stay open and receptive to the world and opportunities. If I don't, then it is easier to fall into my old habits.

Tony Robbins talks about making a decision. A real decision. I heard that almost 10 years ago now, and it still affects the way I run my company. We provide industrial paint finishes on metal products, and that company started because I stopped wishing I could do it, and just made a decision. A few months later, I had a business plan and a marketing plan and we had an investor show up who gave us the seed capital, and we were off and running. It's all about the decision.

Believe in yourself. I don't know what else to say. If you believe in yourself then you can create anything. My grandma taught me that if I believed I could do anything and that belief has kept me going despite whatever stuff gets in the way. Oh yeah, and it's all small stuff. I love that.

Wow, i love the comments other people have made. i'm really into eating healthy and especially raw foods. they make me feel so energized and alive and i know i'm helping the planet too! you can lose weight and heal yourself of so many problems by eating raw. i have a friend who is successfully fighting cancer by going to a raw diet. we should all go raw and then we can heal the planet and ourselves. so many problems are caused by chemicals in our food and in the environment. go raw!

Maybe a little cliche' but Marianne Williamson's poem called Our Deepest Fear had a profound impact on me. Ever since I read it the first time somepart of me knew it was true and couldn't hide anymore from the fact that we were all brought here to be beacons of light. The poem holds me accountabile in some weird way like its not OK for me to hide or be afraid anymore because that means I'm not shining bright. Its great.

I liked the comment about Marianne Williamson, and one of the things I liked about it is that the book they are talking about is over a decade old.

Fertility Enhancement Part 1 - Releasing old emotions & doubts
There are only three things we need to create fertility, and today we're going to talk about Part # 1: releasing old, limiting thoughts, doubts, guilt, or worries.
A great way to do this is what they call a "Clearing Exercise." Ever done one of these? Print this page out, and then put it on your bed-side table so you can start your day with this tomorrow. You're going to love it!
1. First, become aware of (and list) all fears, complaints, and concerns that you’re noticing are present inside right now.
2. Create the harshest judgments you can about what kind of person would have those fears, complaints, and concerns (get brutal, knowing we’re about to make this really funny). For example, someone who is worried about what her friends or lover might think if she gains weight might call herself out as "a superficial, uptight, self-absorbed little witch" (or worse :-)
3. Get clear on whether these judgments are facts or interpretations. There are many ways to do this. One example is to shout the judgments at yourself in the mirror until you start cracking up about the ridiculousness of the judgments and pressure we put on ourselves. Another way is to imagine you are your parent, holding you on the day of your birth, looking into those eyes of innocence and possibility, and then try calling yourself those names and see if they feel like a fact or an interpretation. Whatever the case, the idea is to really get the ridiculousness to sink in and get a sense of humor about it.
4. Create a stand for the day, a central focus, that inspires you and calls you to bring to life today what you're committed to bringing to life. This central focus or feeling for the day can be a word or a phrase you repeat, an action you resolve to take no matter what it takes, or a visual reminder that you put where you’ll see it as much as possible today.
We have found that by clearing daily, you eventually get really good at immediately putting old negative beliefs into perspective, and laughing them away.

Turbulence Fun Fact:
The Federal Aviation Administration requires that all planes be tested for wing flexibility. You see, the wings of a plane naturally flex when gusts of wind come along, because it makes for a smoother flight. Those little flexes are rarely noticed by the passengers, until turbulence comes along and makes the wings work a bit harder.
The minimum required wing flexibility in these FAA tests is set so high that if you multiplied the most wing-flex that's ever been needed to make it through actual in-flight turbulence SEVEN TIMES OVER, you would start to reach it. And that's the minimum! Some planes are built with even greater flexibility, like the Boeing 777 in the video.
From the first post in this series, you already know that one way to stabilize your emotions through turbulent times is by having the nutritional support that helps your body feel calm.
That's a great start. The other tips offered in the video above are:
1. Sleep on the plane - some people seem to have struggled with this, but there are so many ways you can make it easier. First of all, bring a full-size pillow on board with you and dress with layers so that you'll always be at the right temperature. Then, bring along your iPod and load it up with some really soothing music (there is a form of music that creates calm and deep states of meditation - which is a great lead-in to sleep - called Entrainment Music. I don’t know about you but I have had periods in my life when I was very productive and successful and other times when I couldn’t seem to get the dishes done let alone complete my taxes on time. This challenge really drove me to examine through hypnosis what motivates people to get things done.
So how can hypnosis mp3’s really help us with motivation and success? First we must examine how we are motivated in order to better understand our current strategy and how we can change it.
Many of us agonize getting started on a project, or have to dig through the mess on our desks because we’ve never been motivated enough to clean it. Procrastinating what is most important to us is a sign that we have an ‘away from’ motivation strategy. We are only motivated when we are uncomfortable and can’t stand the current situation. We need to feel uncomfortable in order to get motivated. Unfortunately, as soon as we get comfortable we lose that motivation.
Why is this important to understand? When we are primarily away from motivated, then the further away from the source of the pain or discomfort we get, the less motivated we are. So we get inconsistent results, in our business, in our health and in our relationships.
During those productive times we are primarily motivated by inspiration. We use a strategy of moving towards that which makes us feel good. When we are motivated toward pleasure, comfort and relaxation, then we can’t wait to get up in the morning and move closer to our goals. Moving towards this inspiration is a consistent motivator because we always want to feel more of those good feelings so we are willing to do whatever it takes to feel them.
Towards motivated people are those self-motivated, ambitious, forward thinking self-starters. The closer they get to achieving their vision the better they feel and therefore they enjoy getting things done.
The good news is that we can all learn to let go of old patterns, and learn how to use positive feelings, speak to ourselves in a nice voice and see how our vision will look when it is completed. And enjoy the rewards of right action.

Tip # 1 - the Power of Nutrition!
Perhaps you've struggled with fear of flying like some of our clients have struggled with fear of flying in the past.
Imagine, for a moment, you were riding on a roller coaster. There'd be that chug-a-chug-a-chug part up the hill right at the beginning, and eventually you'd arrive at the top and then you go WWWOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHH down the hill and that's the exciting part - that's when the rush comes, when the fear feelings and adrenaline fly up all of a sudden.
That is exactly what you would create if you ate SUGAR right before or during a flight. That sugar could come from the cinnamon roll in the airport, or if you decided to just have a piece of fruit for breakfast, or maybe you had a cocktail or glass of wine or soda during the flight . . . all sugar. Your body quickly burns that sugar (chug-a-chug) and then comes CRASHING down from it!
Instead of that . . . allow us to recommend a simple and powerful adjustment:
Protein. Yep, just protein.
When you eat protein you're creating an internal calm by providing your body with a fuel source that is slow-burning, long-burning, and balancing to your internal environment. Creating this calm internal environment allows you to process your external surroundings peacefully. It's great.
